The government declares a four-day Eidul Fitr vacation

A four-day Eidul Fitr vacation has been formally announced by the federal government of Pakistan, taking place from April 10 to April 13. The vacation time has been approved by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, enabling people to enjoy the joyous event with their loved ones.

The news coincides with growing excitement for the Shawwal moon sighting, which signals the conclusion of the fasting month of Ramadan. Eidul Fitr is commemorated on April 10 if the moon is visible on April 9; if not, it is observed on April 11.

Predictions earlier this week from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) suggested that Tuesday, April 9, is likely to be a good day to see the Shawwal moon across the nation. The Shawwal moon is predicted to emerge on April 8 at 11:21 p.m. local time, based on PMD projections.

On April 9, the moon’s age is predicted to be between 19 and 20 hours, and it will be visible for more than 50 minutes after solar sunset. On April 9, most southern regions, including Karachi, are expected to have clear skies, although overcast conditions may be present in northern parts when the moon is seen.

Eidul Fitr is observed on Wednesday, April 10, marking the beginning of a time of joyful celebrations and religious observances for Muslims worldwide, provided that the moon is visible on April 9.
