“Asim was experiencing severe depression,” the older son of Tariq Jamil claims

Reputable Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil’s elder son has stated that his younger brother Asim killed himself because of “severe depression.”

After conducting a preliminary inquiry into the tragedy on Sunday, the police reported that the son of the religious scholar had committed himself at his home in Talamba, the town where they were born in Punjab.

In a Monday video message, Yousaf said that Asim had been battling severe depression since he was a little child and that within the past six months, his condition had gotten worse.

He added that the treatment for his younger brother’s sickness was Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).

He continued, “[But] shocking Asim Jamil with electricity did not help.”

Giving Asim Jamil an electric shock, however, did not help, the speaker continued.

Yousaf said yesterday that his late brother shot himself with a security guard’s handgun while he was by himself at home because he “could not bear the pain and suffering.”

Yusaf denied the rumors circulating about Asim’s passing and stated that his brother was not attacked or harbored animosity toward anyone.

“We are content with Allah’s decision, as it was his destiny,” he continued.
