Motorcycle and Car Sales Surge in Pakistan as Demand Rebounds

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s automobile sector is showing strong signs of recovery, with motorcycle and rickshaw sales surging 44% in the first two months of the current fiscal year (July–August FY26). According to data compiled by Topline Securities, total sales reached 273,000 units, marking a sharp rise compared to the same period last year.

Analysts say the growth is driven by easing inflation, stronger rural demand, and more accessible financing options for two-wheelers, which remain far more affordable than cars. Motorcycles and rickshaws continue to serve as a crucial part of Pakistan’s transport system, especially in cities and semi-urban areas, where they are widely used for both commuting and commercial purposes.

Despite earlier setbacks from high inflation and devastating floods, industry experts predict steady demand for motorcycles and three-wheelers throughout FY26, citing affordability and the rising need for cost-effective transport solutions.

Meanwhile, car sales have also recorded notable growth. The Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA) reported that 7,135 cars were sold in July 2025, reflecting a 21.82% increase from the 5,857 units sold in the same month last year.

Breaking down the numbers, sales of the Honda Civic and City climbed to 1,143 units in July, up from 790 last year. Toyota Corolla and Yaris sales more than doubled, rising 118.62% to 2,418 units compared to 1,106 a year earlier.
