4 Children Among 9 Pakistanis Killed in Saudi Road Crash After Umrah
BUNER / SAUDI ARABIA – Nine members of a Pakistani family from Dagai Khudokhel in Buner, including four children, died in a tragic road accident in Saudi Arabia. Five other family members were also injured.
The family had traveled to Saudi Arabia 11 days ago to perform Umrah. The funeral prayers for the victims will be held in Saudi Arabia.
Last month, the Ministry of Religious Affairs reported that 18 Pakistani pilgrims lost their lives during Hajj 2025, including 10 men and 8 women. Most of them were elderly and died due to heart attacks or health problems.
All Pakistani pilgrims who passed away during Hajj were buried in Jannatul Baqi. The number of Pakistani deaths this year is lower than in 2024 when 35 pilgrims died.
In total, 1,673,230 Muslims performed Hajj 2025, including 1,506,576 international pilgrims from 171 countries. About 166,654 local pilgrims also joined.
This year, the gender ratio was balanced with 877,841 men and 795,389 women.
To protect pilgrims from extreme heat, Saudi authorities used special cooling systems. Last year, 1,301 pilgrims died due to temperatures as high as 51.8°C (125°F).
