Petrol Diesel Margins Raised Sharply by Govt
Govt Hikes Petrol, Diesel, Freight & Distribution Margins
ISLAMABAD – The federal government has significantly increased freight and distribution margins on petrol and diesel, according to official documents.
The delivery margin on petrol has been raised by Rs3.95 per liter, while the freight margin surged from Rs2.09 to Rs6.04 per liter. Similarly, diesel’s delivery margin went up by Rs1.93 per liter, and its freight margin increased from Rs6.96 to Rs8.89 per liter.
As a result, the total burden of taxes, duties, and margins on petrol has now climbed to Rs103.42 per liter, while for diesel, it stands at Rs97.56 per liter.
The Petroleum Levy is currently set at Rs75.52 per liter for petrol and Rs74.51 per liter for high-speed diesel. Additionally, dealer margins on both fuels are Rs8.64 per liter, while distributor margins are Rs7.87 per liter.
The freight margins now stand at Rs6.04 per liter for petrol and Rs8.89 for diesel. A Climate Support Levy of Rs 2.50 per liter is also applied to both fuels.
Interestingly, the sales tax rate remains at zero percent on both petrol and diesel.
Previously, the total tax and margin burden was Rs 101.49 per liter on petrol and Rs 95.74 per liter on diesel.
