Petrol Price May Rise by Rs6.60 in Pakistan After Summary Sent to PM
Petrol Prices in Pakistan Likely to Increase Again as Summary Sent to PM Office
Petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are expected to rise once again due to fluctuations in the global oil market, according to preliminary estimates compiled by the authorities.
Sources revealed that the price of petrol could go up by Rs6.60 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may see an increase of Rs5.27 per litre. On the other hand, kerosene is expected to become cheaper by Rs3.74 per litre, and light diesel oil (LDO) may be reduced by Rs2.23 per litre.
A formal summary containing these proposed adjustments will be forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday. The final approval rests with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, after which the Ministry of Finance will announce the new petroleum prices.
Once approved, the revised rates will be applicable for the next 15 days.
Earlier, on July 1, 2025, the government had already increased fuel prices. Petrol saw a hike of Rs14.80 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs266.89 per litre, while high-speed diesel was raised by Rs10.39, taking it to Rs272.98 per litre, as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance.
Notably, the government missed the usual midnight deadline for the announcement of petroleum price changes for the current fortnight, causing a brief delay in implementation.
Stay tuned for the official update from the Ministry of Finance once the Prime Minister approves.
