Marathi Actor Priya Marathe Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

Mumbai – Marathi film and television actor Priya Marathe, known for her roles in popular serials such as Kasamh Se, Pavitra Rishta, Uttaran, and Saath Nibhana Saathiya, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, August 31, at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai. She was 41.

Marathe had been courageously fighting cancer for over two years and continued to work intermittently despite her illness. Her cousin, actor Subodh Bhave, confirmed the news on Instagram, paying a heartfelt tribute to her. He revealed that her cancer had relapsed last year during the filming of her final project, the Marathi serial Tu Bhetashi Navyane.

“Cancer didn’t leave her back,” Bhave wrote. “My sister was a fighter, but finally her strength fell short.”

Priya Marathe is survived by her husband, Shantanu Moghe, son of Marathi cinema veteran Shrikant Moghe. The couple had tied the knot in April 2012.

Her death marks a tragic loss for the Marathi entertainment industry, where she was admired for her talent and dedication.
