PSCA Urges E-Challan Verification Before Buying Used Cars in Punjab

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has issued a public advisory urging citizens to verify e-challans before purchasing used vehicles in the province. This measure is crucial to avoid legal complications and financial liabilities arising from unpaid traffic fines.

With the frequent buying and selling of used cars across Pakistan, authorities emphasize that neglecting outstanding fines can lead to serious consequences for new vehicle owners. Failure to clear these dues may result in legal action or issues during vehicle registration and resale.

Buyers and Sellers Both Accountable

According to the PSCA, buyers must check for any pending e-challans before finalizing a purchase. The responsibility does not lie solely with buyers; sellers are also advised to ensure timely ownership transfer to prevent future violations from being attributed to them.

How to Check E-Challan Online

To facilitate transparency, the PSCA offers an online e-challan portal where citizens can check outstanding fines by entering the vehicle’s registration number. This service is free and available to all residents of Punjab.

Additionally, the Punjab government recommends using the ePay Punjab mobile app, available on both Android and iOS, for convenient digital payments. Users can settle fines through:

Mobile and internet banking

ATMs

Over-the-counter transactions

Mobile wallets and telecom agents

A Step Towards Safer Transactions

Whether you are buying or selling a used vehicle, verifying e-challan status ensures a smooth and secure transaction. The PSCA stresses that this simple step protects both parties from future penalties.
