PTI Lawmakers Resign from Parliamentary Committees on Imran Khan’s Orders
In a significant move, several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers have submitted their resignations from parliamentary committees, following directives from party founder Imran Khan.
Ali Muhammad Khan reportedly handed in his resignation to the National Assembly Speaker’s Office. Similarly, MNA Adil Bazai resigned from all committees he was part of, including the Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, the Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, and the Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications.
“I am resigning from all committees on the directives of the party’s founding chairman,” Bazai said.
Earlier, PTI’s Junaid Akbar stepped down as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, submitting his resignation to the party’s Chief Whip, Aamir Dogar. Akbar also resigned from the Energy Committee, citing instructions from Imran Khan.
Dogar confirmed that several PTI committee members are resigning as per Khan’s orders and are sending their resignations to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
Additionally, PTI MNA Suhail Sultan resigned from his positions on the Law & Justice, Water Resources, and SAFRON committees, submitting his resignations to the party.
Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, who visited him at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail after four months, stated that the former prime minister is in good health but is experiencing slight pressure in one eye. She also shared that Khan inquired about the arrests of her sons, Shershah Khan and Shahrez Khan, who were detained in connection with the May 9, 2023, attacks on Jinnah House and other arson incidents.
