PTI Withdraws Petition Against Reserved Seats in KP Assembly

A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court, made up of Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Dr. Khurshid Iqbal, listened to a case filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P). The party said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) did not fairly give out reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

PTI-P’s lawyer, Advocate Sultan Muhammad Khan, said that the party deserved two reserved seats for women and one for minorities. But the ECP only gave them one seat for women.

A senior official from the ECP told the court that PTI-P had already filed the same case in the Islamabad High Court after the ECP had rejected their request.

Justice Syed Arshad Ali said that PTI-P did not tell the Peshawar High Court the full truth about their case.

After this, PTI-P decided to take back its petition, and the court ended the hearing.

Earlier, the Peshawar High Court had stopped the oath-taking of people who were given reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. This decision was also related to the petition from PTI-P against the ECP’s seat allocation.
