Punjab Committee Heads Removed
Four Committee Chairpersons Removed from Punjab Assembly After No-Confidence Vote
The Punjab Assembly Secretariat has issued an official notification saying that four chairpersons of different standing committees have been removed from their positions.
These four people were:
Ansar Iqbal, who was leading the Special Education Committee
Murtaza Iqbal, head of the Professional Management Committee
Ahsan Ali, chairperson of the Colonies Committee
Saima Kanwal, who was leading the Education Committee
They lost their positions after a vote of no-confidence was passed against them in the Assembly. This means most members of the committee or the Assembly voted that they no longer trusted these people to continue in their roles.
It’s important to note that opposition members were leading 13 different standing committees in the Punjab Assembly. These include important committees like:
Auqaf Committee (which deals with religious affairs and endowments)
Energy Committee
Price Control Committee
And others
Now, four of these 13 opposition-led committees have lost their chairpersons due to this no-confidence vote. The remaining nine are still led by opposition members — at least for now.
This change may affect how these committees function in the future, as new chairpersons may be appointed soon by the government.
