Punjab Government Steps Up Healthcare for Women and Children Amid Devastating Floods

Punjab — As Pakistan faces one of its worst flood crises, the Punjab government is stepping up to provide unprecedented healthcare support for flood victims, with a special focus on women and children.

A comprehensive program has been launched across affected districts to meet the urgent health needs of vulnerable groups. Following directives from the Chief Minister, 968 “Clinics on Wheels” and medical relief camps have been set up throughout flood-hit areas.

Maternal care has been prioritized, with pregnant women receiving regular medical checkups. Camps are stocked with multivitamins, sanitary kits, and other essential supplies to support mothers and newborns.

Rural ambulance services are operating around the clock to ensure patients can be transferred promptly to Maryam Nawaz Health facilities and hospitals. Specialist doctors are visiting camps daily to treat children, while routine vaccinations for newborns continue uninterrupted.

Medical teams are also addressing common flood-related health issues, including insect bites, skin infections, gastrointestinal problems, cholera, and malaria. All camps are equipped with adequate stocks of ORS, antibiotics, and other essential medicines.

In addition, screening and treatment programs have been launched for malnourished children to tackle nutritional deficiencies caused by the disaster.
