Qatari Riyal Shows Strength Against Pakistani Rupee in Recent Weeks

ISLAMABAD – The Qatari Riyal (QAR) has shown steady strength against the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) over the past few weeks.

The exchange rate went up from 77.39 PKR at the start of June to 78.01 PKR by July 26. On key dates, the rates were:

July 26: 78.01 PKR

July 23: 78.16 PKR

July 19: 78.26 PKR

July 16: 78.03 PKR

July 9: 78.02 PKR

June 30: 77.86 PKR

This steady rise means the QAR has become slightly stronger over time.

Why the QAR-PKR Rate Changes
The value of QAR against PKR depends on several things, like:

Trade between the two countries

Remittances sent home by workers

Government economic policies

Qatar’s currency is linked to the US dollar and remains stable because of its strong gas exports. On the other hand, Pakistan’s rupee changes more often due to inflation, political issues, and the country’s foreign reserves.

Good News for Pakistani Workers in Qatar
There are more than 125,000 Pakistani workers living in Qatar. As the QAR gains value, the money they send home is now worth more in PKR.

For example, if someone sends 1,000 QAR:

In early June, it was worth 77,390 PKR

Now, it gives about 77,800 PKR

That’s a gain of 410 PKR, helping families back home with education, healthcare, and other daily needs.

However, for people earning in PKR or holding PKR savings, buying goods or services from Qatar may become a little more expensive.

About the Currencies
The Qatari Riyal (QAR) is Qatar’s official currency since 1966, controlled by the Qatar Central Bank. It is written as QR or ر.ق and is tied to the US dollar.

The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) has been in use since 1948 and is managed by the State Bank of Pakistan. Its value changes based on Pakistan’s economic and political situation.
