Quadriplegic Tweets via Neuralink A Historic Breakthrough Recognized by Elon Musk

When will Tesla show its robotaxi? Elon Musk

A man named Noland Arbaugh achieved something remarkable with Elon Musk’s Neuralink brain chip. Despite being quadriplegic, he became the first person to send a tweet using only his thoughts. This incredible feat was made possible thanks to the cybernetic implant developed by Neuralink.

In response to his groundbreaking tweet, Mr. Arbaugh humorously commented that Twitter initially banned him, mistaking him for a bot. However, he was reinstated after @X and @elonmusk intervened, recognizing the uniqueness of his achievement.

Elon Musk himself acknowledged Mr. Arbaugh’s milestone, describing it as the “First ever post made just by thinking, using the Neuralink Telepathy device!”

Prior to this, Neuralink Corp. had live-streamed an update showcasing Mr. Arbaugh playing video games and online chess using only his mind. During the stream, he demonstrated how he could move the cursor on a computer without any physical tools by simply visualizing its movement.

Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Arbaugh shared that he sustained a spinal cord injury eight years ago, resulting in quadriplegia in 2016 due to a diving accident. However, after undergoing the Neuralink procedure in January, he expressed gratitude for regaining the ability to play games like Civilization VI for hours on end. Despite this progress, he acknowledged that there is still room for improvement to further enhance the technology.
