Around 4,000 Beggars Were Arrested by Saudi Police from Masjid Al-Haram
Saudi Arabia has observed an increase of beggars during Ramadan, prompting authorities to take action. Over 4,000 beggars have reportedly been arrested by Saudi authorities and taken to police stations close to Masjid al-Haram, according to sources in the Arab media. After the legal processes are finished, these beggars will be sent to their own nations.
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Interior expressed worries about the security risks that professional beggars represent and called for a crackdown on the practice. They also cautioned against helping beggars since they can be associated with criminal organizations.
The government has announced intentions to carry out comparable works close to other sacred locations, such as Masjid al-Nabawi and significant mosques.
