Remembering M M Alam Hero of 1965 War on 11th Death Anniversary

Monday marks the 11th d**h anniversary of the renowned 1965 WR hero, Muhammad Mahmood Alam, popularly known as M M Alam.

During the 1965 Pak-India War, Muhammad Mahmood Alam, a legendary figure in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), earned his nickname while flying an F-86 Sabre. In an incredible display of skill and bravery, he successfully shot down five Indian warplanes in less than a minute, and in total, he downed nine enemy aircraft during aerial combat.M M Alam holds a significant place in PAF history as the first-ever fighter pilot and is prominently featured in the hall of fame at the PAF Museum in Karachi.

Considered a national hero in Pakistan, Alam’s exceptional performance during the 1965 war earned him the prestigious ‘Sitara-e-Jurat’ award along with the BAR medal. He passed away in Karachi on this day in 2013 at the age of 77 after battling a prolonged illness.

On the occasion of his 11th d**h anniversary, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs have paid homage to Air Commodore Mohammad Mahmood Alam, honoring his legacy as a hero of the 1965 WR.
