Rubio Warns Iran Against Blocking Strait of Hormuz

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio said on the News that China should talk to Iran because China depends a lot on oil that passes through the Strait of Hormuz.

Some experts say Iran might respond to the U.S. airstrikes by blocking the Strait, which is one of the most important routes for oil in the world. About 20% of the world’s oil moves through this waterway.

Rubio warned that if Iran blocks the Strait, it would be a huge mistake. He said it would badly hurt Iran’s economy and that the U.S. has ways to respond if it happens.

He also said other countries should be worried too, because their economies might suffer even more than America’s. Blocking the Strait would be a major step that could cause other countries to respond as well, not just the U.S.

At the same time, Iran has threatened U.S. military bases. An advisor to Iran’s top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said those bases could become targets for Iran’s military.

It’s still unclear whether Iran will try to calm the situation or make things worse after the U.S. attacks.

China, along with Russia and Arab countries, has criticized the U.S. strikes, saying they are making things more dangerous in the Middle East.
