Scotland’s Dominant Partnership Washed Out ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Before the final rain interruption, Scotland scored 90/0 in the reduced 10 overs, courtesy of a solid partnership between their opener Michael Jones and George Munsey.

Scotland captain Richie Berrington won the toss and elected to bat first despite Kensington Oval being covered in dark clouds.

Scotland had a decent start to their innings as they scored 51 for the loss of no wicket in 6.2 overs before rain interrupted the action.

The rain interruption continued for more than two hours before the outfield was declared fit to play on and the match was consequently reduced to 10 overs per side.

Meanwhile, Jones and Munsey resumed Scotland’s innings and switched gears to add quick runs.

They added 39 runs in 22 deliveries to power their side to a competitive total.

However, due to the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method, the revised target for England was 109 runs.

But before England could start their pursuit, it began to downpour here again. The rain got heavier and continued till the cut-off time of 20 minutes thus the officials decided to call it off.

With their first fixture of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 washed out, both England and Scotland will share a point each.

Defending champions England next face arch-rivals Australia on Saturday while Scotland will lock horns with Namibia on Thursday.
