Selena Gomez Opens Up About Finding Love with Benny Blanco at the Right Time
Selena Gomez, 33, and Benny Blanco, 37, may have known each other for over a decade, but their romantic journey only began in 2023. In a candid interview, the Rare Beauty founder reflected on why their relationship blossomed at this particular moment in life.
“It’s strange to think that just five years ago, I wouldn’t have been in the right place,” Gomez admitted. “I don’t think I would have been mature enough to be in a relationship like this.”
The Only Murders in the Building star explained that life lessons learned over the years helped her grow into the partner she is today. “I’ve learned so much that allowed me to be the best partner I could be for Benny. And I believe he’s grown in the same way,” she said.
Gomez first met Blanco, now her fiancé, in 2013 through her mother, Mandy Teefey. “He’ll sometimes say, ‘Why did we waste so much time?’ and I always tell him, ‘You wouldn’t have liked me back then,’” she revealed with a laugh.
Speaking about Blanco’s qualities, Gomez shared, “I appreciate his heart, his kindness, his quirks… He’s one of the most grounding people in my life, and he makes me feel very normal.”
The couple celebrated their engagement last December, marking the start of a new chapter together.
