PM Shehbaz Pays Tribute to Armed Forces on Defence Day
Islamabad — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Defence and Martyrs Day, paid rich tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs, vowing that the nation will continue to protect its sovereignty, counter external threats, and build a united and prosperous future.
He said September 6 remains a symbol of courage, unity, and resilience, recalling the 1965 war when the armed forces, with full support of the nation, repelled enemy aggression and safeguarded Pakistan’s independence and territorial integrity.
Highlighting the recent military operation “Bunyanum Marsoos, Marka e Haq,” the premier praised the Army, Navy, and Air Force for their professionalism and combat skills under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and constructive engagement with the world, he warned against ignoring “continuous Indian provocations and changing regional dynamics.” He said Pakistan will keep strengthening its defense capabilities while firmly fighting foreign-sponsored terrorism and proxy wars.
The prime minister noted that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies have made significant progress in eliminating extremism and terrorism, and assured that the nation stands with them until the mission is completed.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for their right to self-determination. He also condemned ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine and urged the international community to protect civilians and ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid for Gaza.
Emphasizing the link between economic stability and national defense, the prime minister called on the people to rise above personal differences and work collectively for sustainable prosperity and self-reliance.
