PM Shehbaz Heads to UNGA with Key Agenda
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he will outline Pakistan’s stance on pressing global and regional issues. He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, cabinet ministers, and senior officials.
In his speech, the Prime Minister is expected to draw attention to the unresolved disputes of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, urging the international community to uphold the right to self-determination. He will also highlight the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for decisive global action to end the suffering of Palestinians.
Beyond these, Sharif will share Pakistan’s perspective on regional security and other global challenges, including climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the UNGA, the Prime Minister will take part in several high-level events, such as meetings of the UN Security Council, the Global Development Initiative, and a special session on climate action. He will also join a gathering of select Islamic leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss peace and security issues.
Sharif is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with world leaders and senior UN officials to exchange views on matters of mutual concern.
