Sindh Plans New Vehicle Fitness Inspection Centres Across Major Cities
KARACHI – Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has instructed the provincial transport department to prepare a fresh proposal—after consulting Wah Industries—for setting up new vehicle fitness inspection centres, according to an official statement.
During a recent cabinet meeting, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon shared details of the initiative, confirming that five new inspection centres are already being established in Karachi.
“In addition to Karachi, these centres will also be set up in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, and Shaheed Benazirabad,” said Memon.
He explained that the centres will issue fitness certificates specifically for commercial and heavy vehicles. The minister also highlighted the launch of a digital system for vehicle registration and challan issuance.
“So far, more than 33,000 vehicles have been issued fitness certificates through this system,” Memon noted, adding that around 9.2 million vehicles are currently registered in Sindh.
