Fans of Lizzo urged the artist to continue making songs and not give in to her critics.
For those who don’t know, on Friday, March 29, the performer revealed her unexpected departure from the music business.
The singer made the unexpected admission that she is “getting tired” of facing constant criticism and scrutiny in real life as well as online.
“I just want to make music, make people happy, and try to leave the world a little better than when I found it,” she wrote. However, I’m beginning to believe that I don’t belong in this world.”
Lizzo, who is being sued for harassment, continued by saying that she has been the target of many lies about her character because of her “clout & views” and that she has also been made fun of for her beauty.
“My character is being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” she said as she concluded her statement. This isn’t something I signed up for. I gave up.”
Fans of the Truth Hurts singer flocked to her defense as soon as the post went public, pleading with her not to “give up.”
