Evan Spiegel and Miranda Kerr on Raising Kids in a Digital World

Tech entrepreneur Evan Spiegel, CEO and co-founder of Snap Inc., and his model wife, Miranda Kerr, opened up in a joint interview about the challenges and benefits of technology for children, and how they set boundaries for their three sons.

“I’ve seen firsthand how technology can help people stay connected, and I’m grateful my kids are growing up with access to tools that let them express themselves, learn, and connect with friends,” Spiegel, 35, said. “At the same time, I want them to understand the risks that come with being online and to be mindful of how technology affects their well-being.”

He added that Snapchat has introduced The Keys: A Guide to Digital Safety to help families navigate these challenges.

Kerr, 42, who also shares an elder son, Flynn, 14, with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom, emphasized the importance of being mindful about how children interact with technology. “We focus on setting healthy screen-time habits while also embracing tech as a tool for learning and connection,” she said. “For example, we use Snapchat daily to stay close with family in Australia, but we have strict rules at home.”

She shared that for Flynn, that includes no computers or photos in the bedroom after 9:30 p.m. “I recently completed The Keys digital safety course with him, and it led to some really meaningful conversations about responsible tech use,” Kerr added.

The couple’s younger children are sons Hart, 7, Myles, 5, and Pierre, 1.
