Due to severe rain, Pakistan and New Zealand’s first Twenty20 International match was canceled
The first Twenty20 International match of Pakistan against New Zealand’s five-match series was rained off in Rawalpindi on Thursday due to heavy rainfall.
It was declared that the match would now consist of five overs each side, and the players came back out onto the field for just two balls.
With the second ball, Tim Robinson was out of the game thanks to an inswinging delivery from Shaheen Afridi that shook the stumps.
The umpires canceled the game because it started to rain again shortly after the player was dismissed.
The players had already departed the pitch before Shaheen was set to deliver the opening ball of the game.
After winning the toss, Michael Bracewell, the captain of New Zealand, chose to bat first.
Three players from Pakistan were given their debut caps: Usman Khan, Irfan Khan Niazi, and Abrar Ahmed.
Josh Clarkson was making his New Zealand debut at the same time.
