Naseem Shah is fined by PCB for misusing “ground equipment”

In the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), bowler Naseem Shah of Islamabad United was fined 10% of his match fee for violating the code of conduct during a Sunday match against Multan Sultans.

In a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Naseem had been fined 10% of the match money “for a level 1 breach of the PSL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel”.

Naseem, a 21-year-old, was accused of breaking Article 2.2, which addresses misusing cricket gear, apparel, fixtures, and fittings.

The statement further stated that “Naseem had kicked the stumps after the final ball of Multan Sultans’ innings.”

There was no need for a formal hearing because the pacer admitted admission to the accusations and agreed to the penalties suggested by match referee Roshan Mahanama.

Muhammad Asif and Ruchira Palliyaguruge, the on-field umpires, levied the charge for breaking the regulations.

However, Multan Sultans were also penalised for continuing to play at a sluggish over-rate throughout the same game.

The Multan Sultans were one over shy of their goal, according to match referee Mahanama. Before rendering a ruling, the referee considered time allowances.

Each player was thus penalised 10% of his match fee in compliance with Article 2.22 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
