PCB Is Likely to Name Different Red & White Ball Cricket Coaches

Local sources have said that Shane Watson, a former cricket player from Australia, is reluctant to commit to a full-year coaching position in Pakistan. This has sparked conversations inside the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the possibility of appointing a different coach just for Test matches.

If Watson accepts the terms, the PCB reportedly has offered him a $2 million annual pay, making him the highest-paid coach in Pakistan cricket history.

According to reports, Watson is giving the offer careful thought and could decide to take the job if the PCB formally contacts him.

The PCB is putting together a capable coaching staff for the national cricket squad, with Mohsin Naqvi serving as their mentor.

In case Watson’s contract isn’t concluded in time, the PCB is looking at possibilities for local coaches and foreign advisers to guarantee they have covering for the forthcoming T20I series against New Zealand in Pakistan, which begins on April 18.

Notably, in January of this year, Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick resigned from their positions after being transferred to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore in November 2023.
