Since June 26, torrential rains and flash floods have wreaked havoc across Pakistan, claiming the lives of at least 657 people, including 392 men, 171 children, and 94 women. Another 929 people have been injured, with 437 men, 256 children, and 236 women among them, reported the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The NDMA said these casualties have resulted from heavy monsoon rains, flash floods, and related hazards. The authority is coordinating with provincial governments to intensify relief and rescue efforts in the most affected areas.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hit Hardest
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has suffered the heaviest losses, recording 390 deaths, including 288 men, 59 children, and 43 women. The province also reported 245 injuries, with 161 men, 45 children, and 39 women affected.
The NDMA, under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, continues to support KP’s government and Provincial Disaster Management Authority in ongoing relief operations.
Relief supplies, including tents, blankets, 7KVA generators, de-watering pumps, ration bags, and medicines, were dispatched on Monday to Buner. The consignment was sent jointly by the NDMA, the Armed Forces, and welfare organizations to assist those affected by the floods.
