Swat River Tragedy 11 Dead 3 Missing Govt Bans Excavation

Rescue teams have found the bodies of 11 people so far. Three people were saved, and the search is still going on to find the remaining three who are missing.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Livestock, Fazal Hakim Khan Yousafzai, said that digging for sand and gravel in the Swat River is now banned. He also said that the government will start a big operation to remove illegal buildings along the river.

The minister said an independent investigation is already happening to find out the truth behind the tragedy. So far, four government workers have been suspended. More people will be punished if found guilty.

This action comes after the public demanded answers and better safety steps after the deadly flood.

Compensation for Families

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government has announced that families of the people who died in the Swat River tragedy will receive Rs 1 million each.

A spokesperson for the KP Chief Minister said this decision was made after 17 tourists were swept away by a sudden flood in the Swat River on Friday morning.

Several government officials have been suspended for not doing their jobs properly.

The Chief Minister has also ordered a special team to investigate what happened. The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team will lead the inquiry.
