Elon Musk is visiting our nation for the first time
Two government ministers have announced that SpaceX owner Elon Musk will visit Indonesia on Sunday to launch the space agency’s satellite unit, Starlink.
President Joko Widodo’s close supporter, Minister Luhut Pandjaitan, reportedly disclosed that Musk, 52, would join the nation’s leader on the vacation island of Bali to introduce the service. This information was reported by Reuters.
This would be the tech billionaire’s first trip to Indonesia personally.
He has, however, before spoken via video link at an Indonesian convention.
Musk is also expected to appear at the World Water Forum in Bali, as Luhut had previously disclosed.
According to Communications Minister Budi Arie Setiadi, Musk was going to sign a deal on connectivity for the health sector at the clinic where the Starlink launch will take place in Denpasar, the capital of Bali.
Budi disclosed this week that Starlink has obtained a license to commercially provide its internet services for retail customers in Indonesia early this month.
Indonesia anticipates that Starlink will engage with regional network access providers to deliver internet services to its distant regions.
