Teyana Taylor Reveals Vocal Cord Surgery After Health Scare
LOS ANGELES — Teyana Taylor is stepping away from the spotlight — but only briefly — as she prepares to undergo emergency vocal cord surgery following a recent health scare.
In a heartfelt update shared via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, the 33-year-old singer and actress opened up about a benign growth found on one of her vocal cords that has been causing her discomfort for some time.
“I’ve been quietly dealing with some vocal challenges for a while now,” the Gonna Love Me artist wrote. “And after a lot of back and forth with my doctors, I’ve been told I need a vocal surgery immediately.”
Taylor reassured fans that the growth is noncancerous and treatable but emphasized the importance of healing. “Thankfully, we caught it & it’s treatable — but it does mean I need to pause and give myself time to fully heal,” she said.
Due to the procedure, Taylor will be stepping back from several commitments, including an appearance on Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson’s upcoming ‘IMO’ podcast. “It honestly breaks my heart,” she shared. “I don’t take lightly what it means to show up for you all.”
Despite the setback, Taylor confirmed that her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Escape Room, will still drop on its original release date — August 22. Calling it her “most personal body of work,” she thanked fans for their continued support as she prioritizes her health.
