TikToker Held in Honey Trap Kidnaps
TikToker Arrested for Allegedly Aiding Honey-Trap Kidnappings in Katcha Belt
KARACHI – Police have uncovered a disturbing evolution in the tactics of criminal gangs operating in the katcha belt, where abduction-for-ransom cases remain rampant.
Initially, the gangs reportedly used fake female voices over phone calls to lure unsuspecting victims into their hideouts. Once this ploy was exposed, they shifted to offering cheap vehicles as bait, abducting those who arrived and demanding large ransoms.
With the rise of social media, however, the gangs adopted a more sophisticated approach — enlisting influencers, particularly TikTokers, to ensnare victims.
Police said one such figure, identified as Uroosa Solangi, played a key role in facilitating these honey-trap abductions. She allegedly targeted young men from various cities, feigning romantic interest through video calls and then convincing them to meet in person. Victims were directed to the katcha area, where they were handed over to dacoits.
Authorities confirmed that Solangi has been taken into custody. Evidence recovered from her mobile phones, including chats and call records, has linked her to multiple kidnapping cases.
Investigators say the findings expose how traditional kidnapping methods have merged with digital platforms, making unsuspecting social media users new targets of organized crime.
