Trump Brokers Israel-Iran Ceasefire as Israel Eyes Gaza

Yair Lapid, an Israeli politician, posted on X (formerly Twitter), “And now Gaza. It’s time to finish it there, too. Bring back the hostages, end the war.”

Earlier, Israel agreed to a ceasefire with Iran. This deal was suggested by US President Donald Trump after 12 days of fighting.

The Israeli government said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the cabinet that Israel had completed all goals of its military operation called “Rising Lion.” The statement said Israel had stopped two big threats: nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

The government also thanked President Trump and the United States for helping Israel and removing Iran’s nuclear threat. It warned that Israel would respond strongly if anyone broke the ceasefire.

President Trump confirmed on Tuesday that the ceasefire is now active.
“THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He had earlier said the ceasefire would begin in two steps over 24 hours, starting at 4:00 AM GMT on Tuesday. First, Iran would stop all military actions, then Israel would stop 12 hours later.

Before the ceasefire began, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi praised Iran’s armed forces. He said they kept fighting until the very last moment at 4:00 AM.

“Our powerful Armed Forces punished Israel for its attacks right until the end,” he wrote. “We thank our brave soldiers who are always ready to defend our country.”

On Monday, President Trump officially announced the complete ceasefire between Israel and Iran, bringing an end to the 12-day war.
