Dolphins’ Star Receiver Hill Suffers Knee Dislocation in Painful Injury at Hard Rock Stadium

Miami — Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, one of the NFL’s top offensive threats, was forced to leave Sunday’s game in the third quarter after a hard tackle from New York Jets cornerback Malachi Moore.

Replays showed Hill’s leg twisting at an unnatural angle, prompting immediate attention from medical staff. The 31-year-old was quickly placed on a cart and taken off the field, his left leg secured in a protective brace, as he waved to fans.

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Hill had suffered a knee dislocation and was transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to stay overnight.

“I know it was a dislocation,” McDaniel said. “Outside of that, I’ll have more information tomorrow.”

Hill’s career has been marked by both on-field brilliance and off-field controversy. He played a pivotal role in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2020 Super Bowl victory in Miami and helped the team return to the championship the following season.

Off the field, Hill has faced legal troubles. In 2014, he pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery related to an incident with his then-pregnant girlfriend. In 2019, he was investigated for child battery after his three-year-old son suffered a broken arm, though no charges were filed.

More recently, in September 2024, Hill was involved in a high-profile police incident while driving to Miami’s season-opening game. He was handcuffed and removed from his vehicle, raising questions about police conduct toward minorities. Traffic charges were later dismissed.

Hill’s injury is a major blow for the Dolphins, who face uncertainty over the star receiver’s recovery timeline as they look to maintain momentum this season.
