Words and Words-More Vocabulary to Employ Now!
Words, Words, and More Words!
Words are often thought of as powerless. You’ve probably heard of the proverb: Actions speak louder than words. Additionally, we live in a society where good communication is no longer deemed essential. However, good communication stems from a wide vocabulary and an open mind. Again, I am counting down ten new words you NEED to incorporate into your vocabulary ASAP. So, without wasting time, let’s learn some new words.
Beset
Firstly, how many of you read that as best? Beset is quite different from best. How? Well, there’s an extra ‘e’. Not funny? Okay, I’ll just right into it. Beset means “trouble (someone or something) persistently”. Furthermore, it’s incredible easy to use in a sentence. For example, there are various social and economical problems that beset Pakistan today.
Deprave
Deprave is another word you should be using. How would you use it? Adult content might deprave young children. That’s just one example. However, if you are still confused about its meaning, look no further. It means “to make one wicked or immoral”. See? I gave you the best sentence!
Winsome
This has to be one of my favorite adjectives for describing someone’s smile. Basically, this means” attractive or appealing in a fresh, innocent way”. So, next time you see a friend in a good mood, be sure to compliment their winsome smile.
Genteel
Close to gentle, this word has its own impact when spoken at the right time. In fact, genteel means “characterized by exaggerated or affected politeness, refinement, or respectability”. For example, her accent and polite manners reflected her genteel upbringing.
Mauve- One of the Coolest Words
Okay. Let’s try pronouncing this word. Done? Try saying it five times FAST. Be honest. You couldn’t do it, could you? But, the real question is that for such a hard word, what would be the meaning? We tend to assume that hard sounding words mean something super complex and intricate. However, this rarely is the case. Mauve is a pale purple shade. Since there are so many colors in the universe, try to be more specific when identifying them. Next time, tell your friends that you just bought a brand-new mauve silk shirt instead of a light purple one. They’ll probably be gobsmacked!
More Words For You
I hope you’re still with me. I know that these words are a little hard to digest right now. However, I promise that with little effort, it becomes second-nature. You’ll be uttering new words in no time, making heads turn and mouths hang open. So, let’s keep going.
Wringing
This word is so relatable. Especially today with the weather we’re having. Moreover, I’m sure many of us are wringing with sweat right now. With the help of the previous sentence, you’ll notice that wringing means “extremely soaked or wet”.
Indelible
After learning this word, you will never forget it. Literally. This means “not being able to be forgotten”. Therefore, let’s say that this article will make an indelible impression on me”.
Fallacy
Be happy. Here, we finally have a word that you can use in your next written work. Fallacy means “a mistaken belief, especially one based on unsound arguments”. It’s pretty simple to construct a sentence as well. For instance, thinking that all children are innocent is a fallacy.
Gobsmacked- One of the Surprising Words
This is my sister’s favorite word these days. It’s kind of annoying because she tries to create situations in which she can use it. Hearing it more than three times a day is kind of annoying. However, it’s an excellent word to add to your vocabulary! What does it mean? Gobsmacked is used to show how shocked or astonished a person is . Never heard of the word before? That’s fine because it’s a British slang so it’s not very common to us. So, the next time someone surprises you, tell them that you were gobsmacked!
Altercation
Instead of saying fight or dispute, use the word altercation. It means the same thing. So, next time you get into a heated argument, tell everyone that you had an altercation with that person.

Currently, I am a student of Fatima Jinnah Women University. With a burning passion for psychology, words, and dreams, I decided to abandon medical studies for humanities. These days, when I’m not listening to ballads, watching movies, or sitting down with a good novel, I am rigorously studying Hangul (Korean language) to satisfy my obsession for BTS and K dramas. I’m a thinking introvert and INFJ personality. Therefore, I like ‘me time’. My articles typically resonate with psychological well-being advice.
