West Indies Level ODI Series with Five-Wicket Win Over Pakistan in Rain-Shortened Match

The second ODI between West Indies and Pakistan, played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago, ended with West Indies securing a five-wicket victory with 10 balls to spare. This win leveled the three-match series at 1-1.

The match was affected by rain multiple times, leading to a revised target for the West Indies. Using the DLS method, the West Indies had to chase 181 runs in 35 overs after Pakistan’s innings was cut short at 171 for 7 in 37 overs.

Roston Chase was the star for the West Indies, scoring an unbeaten 49 runs off 47 balls. His innings included two sixes and the winning boundary. Chase and Alick Athanaze Greaves, who contributed 26 runs off 31 balls, put together an unbroken 77-run partnership for the sixth wicket to guide their team home.

West Indies faced some early setbacks, slipping from 101 for 3 after 18 overs to 111 for 5 by the 24th over. Sherfane Rutherford’s aggressive 45 off 33 balls, which included three sixes and four fours, was a bright spot before he was dismissed.

On the bowling front, young fast bowler Jayden Seales impressed, taking 3 wickets for 23 runs in his 7 overs.

Pakistan, having won the first ODI, struggled to build momentum in the second. Hasan Nawaz once again played well, scoring an unbeaten 36 off 30 balls, including three sixes, to anchor Pakistan’s innings. Hussain Talat added 31 runs off 32 balls, but most other batsmen found it tough to score freely.

Captain Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed lbw for 16 off 38 balls by Gudakesh Motie.

The third and final ODI is set to begin at 6:30 pm, with the series tied and both teams eager to claim the decider.
