WhatsApp Tests Voicemail-Style Feature for Android Beta Users

WhatsApp is testing a new voicemail-like feature for select Android beta users, aimed at making it easier to follow up on missed calls. Currently available in version 2.25.23.21, the feature allows users to quickly send a voice message straight from the call screen.

How It Works

If a WhatsApp voice call goes unanswered, users will now see three options: call again, cancel, or send a voice message. This new shortcut is also accessible directly in the chat with the recipient, letting users send a quick voice note without switching screens. Once recorded, the message is instantly sent within the conversation thread and appears alongside the missed call notification. Essentially, it works like a traditional voicemail but fits seamlessly into WhatsApp’s chat interface, offering greater convenience and immediacy.

At the moment, the feature is limited to Android beta testers, and WhatsApp hasn’t announced a global release date. However, based on previous feature rollouts, a wider launch could follow positive feedback from beta users.

WhatsApp continues to roll out features designed to make communication smoother and more user-friendly, and this new voicemail-style shortcut is expected to be a popular addition.

 Undo Deleted Messages on WhatsApp

WhatsApp has also introduced a way to undo accidentally deleted messages—a feature many users had been waiting for. When deleting a message, users see two options: “Delete for Me” or “Delete for Everyone.” Choosing “Delete for Me” removes the message from the sender’s chat but leaves it on the recipient’s device. Users now have a brief window to undo this action; if missed, the option disappears.
