Microsoft Confirms Xbox Ally Handheld Consoles, Launch Set for October 16
Microsoft has officially confirmed that its much-anticipated handheld gaming devices, the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, will launch on October 16, 2025. The announcement follows the initial reveal during the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest earlier this year.
The company says the new handhelds are designed for gamers who want to take their favorite titles anywhere. The Xbox Ally is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage, promising strong performance, longer battery life, and smooth gameplay across popular titles such as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Gears of War: Reloaded, Lies of P, and South of Midnight.
While Microsoft has confirmed the release date, it has yet to disclose official pricing. Both Microsoft and Asus stated they are taking time to finalize prices, given the global economic climate. At the same time, the tech giant announced a new handheld compatibility program to help identify which games will run best on the Xbox Ally lineup.
Unverified reports suggest the Xbox Ally could launch at $699, with the higher-end Xbox Ally X priced around $1,049. However, Microsoft clarified that these figures are speculation and that official pricing and preorder details will be shared “in the coming weeks.”
The handheld consoles will roll out across multiple markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey, the UAE, Belgium, Finland, Hong Kong, and the Czech Republic, with more regions expected to follow.
