Zakat Nisab 2025 Set at Rs. 179,689 for Bank Deductions
It will be the minimum amount in bank accounts on which zakat will be deducted on the eve of the first Ramazan.
This year’s Zakat Nisab is Rs. 44,519 higher than the previous year’s threshold of Rs. 135,179 for Zakat deductions on savings and other accounts.
However, no deduction of Zakat at source shall be made, in case the amount standing to the credit of an account, is less than Rs. 179,689/= on the first day of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, 1445-46 A.H.
This year the first day of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, the deduction date, falls on 2nd March 2025.
According to the notification, the Zakat would be deduced from Saving Bank Accounts Profit and Loss Sharing Accounts, and other similar accounts.
Banks will deduct 2.5% of the total amount in their accounts as zakat.
According to the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance, 1980, no deduction of Zakat at source shall be made if the balance in the specified accounts is lesser than the Nisab amount.
