Terrorist Attack in Zhob Claims Police Officer’s Life, Injures Levies Personnel
Zhob/Bannu: A tragic attack unfolded at the Levies and police post in Sherani Town Headquarters, Zhob, where terrorists targeted security forces, resulting in the martyrdom of police officer Altaf and injuries to a Levies personnel, SP Nasrullah Malik confirmed.
The injured Levies member and the body of the fallen officer were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment and formalities.
During the assault, the attackers also abducted a Levies soldier and set fire to the Levies post and a vehicle, both of which were destroyed.
In a separate incident in Bannu, terrorists launched an attack on the Meriyan Police Station. Police officials reported that the attackers used both light and heavy weapons, but the security forces responded with strong resistance, forcing the militants to retreat.
These attacks follow a deadly assault on September 2, when six soldiers from the Pakistan Army and Federal Constabulary (FC) were martyred while foiling an attack on the FC Headquarters in Bannu, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
“During the early hours of September 2, terrorists linked to Indian-backed Fitna al Khwarij targeted the FC Headquarters in Bannu District,” the ISPR statement read. It added that the attackers attempted to breach perimeter security, but their plans were quickly thwarted by the vigilant response of the security forces.
