Man arrested for performing Umrah on behalf of Queen.

The man, a Yemeni, posted a video of himself at the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Monday, despite the fact that non-Muslims are not allowed inside.

A flag he was holding in the video read, “Umrah for the soul of Queen Elizabeth II, we ask God to accept her in heaven and among the righteous.”

In response to the video’s widespread circulation on Saudi social media, members of the microblogging site Twitter demanded the man’s arrest.

Pilgrims are not allowed to bring signs or chant during their visit to Makkah. Even while it is permissible to conduct Umrah on behalf of Muslims who have passed away, this does not include non-Muslims like the queen, who was the head of the Church of England, the mother church of the entire Anglican Communion.
