Man detained in Samanabad, Karachi, for obstructing and touching a woman
On Friday, Karachi police detained a guy for groping and harassing a woman in the Samanabad neighborhood of Karachi.
The event was captured on CCTV, which shows a man going down a lane before grabbing a female bystander.
On social media, users were outraged by the footage and demanded the suspect’s quick arrest.
District Central Police stated the culprit has been captured in a statement issued today. He is from the Azizabad neighborhood of Bhingoria Goth and uses a motorcycle to run a mobile bakery service, according to the statement.
The statement noted that “the suspect had abandoned his motorcycle at the crime scene before fleeing,” and it added that more investigation was being conducted.
It also mentioned that the police had filed a first information report about the incident.
The incident allegedly took place on October 5. In the FIR, the complainant said that the culprit was named Asif Ali and that the police had apprehended him as a result of a tip-off.
Similar behavior was seen on camera earlier this month on one of the city’s well-traveled highways by a man on a motorbike, exposing himself to female university students. Riffat Mukhtar, the Inspector General (IG) of Police for Sindh, then took notice of the occurrence and requested a thorough report on it.
Previously, in July, a frightening video clip of a guy attacking a woman in Gulistan-i-Jauhar in broad daylight went viral on social media, drawing the attention of the authorities.
