Pakistan provides assistance to Afghan earthquake victims

On Sunday, the leadership of Pakistan expressed its profound sorrow and condolences over the loss of valuable lives and property in the tragic earthquake that struck the western areas of Afghanistan on Saturday.

The Taliban administration reported that the earthquake, which was the deadliest to shake the quake-prone mountainous nation in years, killed more than 2,000 people and injured more than 9,000 others.

The Foreign Office spokeswoman released a statement that stated, “The government and people of Pakistan are deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake that struck yesterday in Western regions of Afghanistan, resulting in tragic loss of life and widespread damage to property.”

The statement said, “We offer our deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost loved ones and pray for the quick and complete recovery of the injured.” Pakistan expresses its unwavering support for its Afghan brothers and sisters at this trying time.

According to the Foreign Office, the Pakistani government was in touch with the Afghan authorities to learn directly what the immediate requirements of those impacted by the earthquake were. Pakistan pledged to offer the recovery effort “all possible support.”

Separately, President Dr. Arif Alvi expressed his sincere grief over the fatalities caused by the tragic earthquake in the province of Herat. Arif Alvi urged the Islamic world and the international community to aid Afghanistan in this time of need in a statement.


Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani voiced Pakistan’s support for Afghanistan in a tweet on the social networking platform X following the powerful 6.3 magnitude earthquake that shook Herat region.


“We offer our sympathies to the families of those who perished in the catastrophic earthquake in Afghanistan. To assist with rescue and relief efforts, we are in contact with the Afghan government, Jilani stated on the Twitter platform.
