Ranbir Kapoor wants to feel “as pure as Ram” for the Ramayana
The next movie by Dangal filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari is another rendition of the Ramayana, a Hindu epic. The director has cast South Indian actors Yash and Sai Pallavi, together with Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, to portray the Hindu gods Ram, Ravan, and Sita, respectively.
Currently, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol are playing major roles in Ranbir’s forthcoming film Animal. The Tamasha actor, who has received praise for his portrayal of a gangster in the next movie, is reportedly already preparing for the part of a lifetime as Ram.
To be as ‘pure as Ram’ in his part, Ranbir, according to Pinkvilla, has completely given up eating meat or drinking alcohol. Sunny Deol, who starred in Gadar 2, is apparently in talks to join the ensemble movie and will purportedly play Hanuman in the aforementioned project, according to a recent report from Filmfare. According to the article, Sunny showed interest in the proposition after learning that the producers intended to create a Hanuman spin-off.
“Sunny Deol is undoubtedly the best actor in the Indian film business qualified to capture the spirit of Bajrangbali since Hanuman represents strength. The actor has genuinely expressed a desire to take part in Nitesh Tiwari’s retelling of the Ramayana, and he is especially enthusiastic about playing Lord Hanuman. It is important to keep in mind that these negotiations are only in the beginning stages, a source said.
According to Pinkvilla, the producers plan to release this epic in theatres the following year. In the first quarter of 2024, Nitesh will start filming alongside Ranbir, Sai, and Yash.
According to a source who spoke to the news website, “Nitesh Tiwari and colleagues have been actively working on developing the universe of the Ramayana, and the blueprint is now ready. The Oscar-winning company, DNEG, created the VFX plates, and they depict a universe that will astound viewers. However, the Ramayana’s intense inter-character emotions and straightforward plot will outweigh its visual appeal.
“Ranbir and Sai will begin filming for the picture around the month of February 2024,” the source continued. Lord Rama and Sita will receive more attention in the first book of the trilogy, which will eventually lead to the Sita Haran conflict. The pair will begin filming in February 2024 and continue until August 2024 before wrapping up Ramayana: Part One.
It was recently reported that Alia Bhatt declined the role after previously having discussions with the production team for the three-part silver screen adaptation of the Ramayana. According to the article, Alia withdrew from the production in which her husband plays the Hindu deity Ram due to “date issues.”
Alia “was in talks for the role of Goddess Sita, but the collaboration did not work out due to date issues,” a source close to the situation claimed. The shooting timetable has been postponed until 2024 due to the extensive pre-production work required for a project as grandiose as Ramayana.
Yash was supposed to have dropped out of the movie, but an insider said that such claims were untrue and that the actor was still having discussions with the directors about the role and had even passed his initial look test for the villainous one.
