A biopic on Donald Trump is in the works

According to Deadline, a biographical movie named after the renowned TV program The Apprentice is going to highlight the life of President Donald Trump, a former reality TV star.

Although a large portion of Trump’s life has been in the spotlight, this Hollywood movie goes beyond the news to highlight a crucial period in his life: the establishment of his ostensibly contentious but successful real estate company.

The production will center on Trump’s rise to prominence in New York City politics and power, a journey that serves as the background for the story of a man who is currently embroiled in 91 felony accusations spanning numerous criminal cases. His early achievements hold the key to unlocking a significant chapter in American history and forming the current highly divided society.

Sebastian Stan, well known for playing Tommy Lee in Pam & Tommy and Bucky Barnes in Marvel movies, is playing the 45th President. Maria Bakalova, who received recognition for her Oscar-nominated portrayal of the late Ivana Trump—the president’s renowned first wife and mother to Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka—joins Stan.

The actor who gained notoriety for playing Kendall Roy in HBO’s Succession, Jeremy Strong, takes on the role of Roy Cohn, the lawyer who advised Trump and was eventually barred for unethical behavior.

Production on the film, which will be directed by Cannes Prize winner Ali Abbasi, kicks up this week. It is planned as a mentor-protege story that sheds light on the beginnings of an American dynasty, exploring ambition and power in a corrupt and dishonest environment.

The film’s screenplay was written by journalist Gabriel Sherman, who is best known for his work on The Loudest Voice in the Room. Sherman drew inspiration for the Russell Crowe-starring Showtime series in 2019 from his critically acclaimed biography of Roger Ailes
