Yadav has also undergone surgery for his ankle injury, which he suffered during the South Africa tour last month.
He was in Bengaluru for rehab for his ankle injury, however, the worsening condition of his sports hernia prompted him to undergo surgery for that.
He is likely to achieve full fitness ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), scheduled in mid-March.
Yadav led India in the Ithree-match T20I series in South Africa before he was ruled out of the ODI series against South Africa, as well as the recently concluded home T20I series against Afghanistan.
India won the three-match ODI series against South Africa 2-1 and whitewashed Afghanistan in the T20I series.
