NAB arrests son of late PPP Makhdoom Amin Faheem
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested one among the sons of the late PPP, Makhdoom Amin Fahim on corruption charges in Karachi, reported on Thursday.
Makhdoom Jamil-uz-Zaman, who is also known as ‘Makhdoom Habibullah’, was arrested from Bahria Town.
He’s accused of misuse of power during his period of power and receiving bribes from a former accounts officers.
Makhdoom Habibullah is the son of deceased PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim and also the former Nazim of Taluka Hala.
He is also accused of corruption involving millions of rupees during his period as Taluka Nazim in the Musharraf era.
According to the anti-corruption watchdog said during a statement;
He was taken into custody by the anti-corruption authorities from his house in Karachi.
NAB’s Investigation about Makhdoom Habibullah
According to the initial investigation by NAB:
Zaman bought an apartment five years ago in Karachi in the name of his relative and made a payment of Rs.7.5-million.
The payment was made to a person named Mushtaq Sheikh in 2015.
The latest arrest came just a day after an accountability court in Rawalpindi awarded 10-year imprisonment to a former PML-N provincial assembly member.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs.50-million to Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz against whom the reference was filed in 2002.
Reports suggest Zaman is accused of embezzlement of funds during his tenure as taluka Nazim of Hala.
Makhdoom was earlier in August summoned by the agency but he didn’t show up.
Late Makhdoom Amin Faheem’s charges
In 2015, NAB exonerated PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim and about a dozen former bureaucrats from corruption charges.
They decided to proceed against PTI MNA Gulzar Khan over the alleged allotment of state land.
According to NAB’s spokesman;
A meeting of the executive board presided over by the bureau’s Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry.
They decided to not proceed further against former commerce minister Amin Fahim, Rustam Sidhava.
Others in a case about the accumulation of assets beyond their known sources of income because of a lack of incriminating evidence.
