India may have been responsible for the Tamba attack: Naqvi
The attack on Amir Sarfraz Tamba, who is accused of torturing an Indian terrorist named Sarabjit Singh to death when he was incarcerated in 2013, was reportedly planned by India, according to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday.
“Police are looking into the fire on Amir Tamba, and they believe India is responsible so far. India also has a similar pattern of involvement in four other murder cases. But until the inquiry is over, it won’t be appropriate to comment,” he told the reporters at the Federal inquiry Agency (FIA) headquarters in Lahore.
On April 5, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been planning murders in Pakistan. He declared that if someone tries to enter Pakistan to carry out terrorist operations, India will cross the border and kill them.
Mohsin Naqvi announced at the press conference that efforts were on to augment the number of counters at the Lahore airport in order to expedite the immigration procedure and reduce wait times for travelers. He said that he had discussed this matter with Khawaja Asif, the minister of aviation, and that electronic gates will be installed to enable passport scanning to be completed without the need for an immigration officer.
Regarding the overbilling of energy bills, Mohsin Naqvi stated that he had discussed the matter with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had promised that no pressure would be allowed in this area and that the FIA would have full cooperation in order to resolve the situation.
“We have evidence that 830 million units were overbilled at Lesco, and FIA Lahore has done good work in this regard,” the speaker stated. He said that overcharging occurred in government agencies, businesses, and even for the average person who only used 300 units.
He stated it was really regrettable and that the XEN, who had been overcharging customers with 300 units, had been detained. The federal minister said that nationwide action would be made to combat overbilling and that the campaign would last until this practice was stopped.
He declared that the FIA will undergo a significant overhaul in terms of the cyber aspect. He further stated that the hiring procedure for open positions in the FIA will be finished.
He stated that although there was a lot of effort being done to combat power theft, much more needed to be done in this area. The Ministry of Power will assist the interior minister in taking action against power theft in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Regarding human trafficking, Naqvi stated that while a lot of work was being done to fight it, more work was needed in this area. In response to a query, he stated the FIA will not be subject to political pressure.
He declared that Sindh police were pursuing street crimes in Karachi head-on. According to him, legislation should be in place to assist prevent inappropriate usage of social media.
Amir Tamba is still alive, according to authorities, although he is in serious condition at an undisclosed hospital. According to his brother Junaid, he doesn’t know where his brother is. His death was incorrectly reported earlier.
Complainant Junaid Sarfraz claimed in the contents of the FIR that he and his family resided on the ground level of the home, while his brother Amir, also known as Tamba, occupied the upper floor. Two armed guys broke into his home at roughly 12:40 p.m., made their way to the top level, and opened fire on Amir.
He continued by saying that he raced upstairs after hearing the gunshots and discovered his brother lying in a pool of blood. The gunman with the mask and his helmet-wearing companion left the area. They made their getaway while riding a Honda 125cc motorcycle. Junaid stated that his brother was taken to a nearby hospital suffering from three gunshot wounds after the police were notified of the incident.
