The body of TV actress Humaira Asghar was received by her brother in Karachi last night, following the completion of legal formalities. Her funeral prayer will be held today in Green Town, Lahore.
Speaking to the media, Humaira’s brother revealed he had last spoken to her nearly 10 months ago. He explained that a sudden death in the family delayed their immediate travel to Karachi to claim the body. Despite the delay, he confirmed the family remained in regular contact with the police, and all required procedures were carried out by the law.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Humaira Asghar’s mysterious death remains ongoing. According to police officials, multiple angles are being explored to determine the cause of death.
As part of the ongoing probe, authorities are interrogating several individuals identified through her call detail record (CDR), including a cab driver. Investigators have also extracted data from Humaira’s mobile phone and are questioning all recent contacts.
Background:
Humaira’s decomposed body was discovered on July 8, 2025, after Gizri Police, accompanied by a court bailiff, broke into her apartment in Karachi’s Ittehad Commercial Area. The raid was conducted to enforce an eviction notice issued due to non-payment of rent since April 2024.
Neighbors had complained of a foul odor, prompting police action. The late discovery was possibly due to the adjacent apartment being unoccupied until February 2025. The locked main and balcony doors suggested she was alone at the time of her death.
Authorities have yet to determine whether foul play was involved, as suspicions surrounding the condition of the body continue to raise questions.
