Lahore Rains Kill 10 Flood Roads Across Punjab

Heavy Rains Paralyze Lahore and Punjab: 10 Dead, Dozens Injured in Roof Collapses and Electrocution

LAHORE – Torrential monsoon rains wreaked havoc across Lahore and other parts of Punjab late Tuesday night, submerging key roads and claiming multiple lives in tragic weather-related incidents.

The downpour, which began around 9:10 PM, led to widespread flooding across the city. Major arteries were flooded with rainwater, severely disrupting traffic and daily life.

At least 10 people were reported dead across Lahore alone, mostly due to electrocution and collapsing rooftops. Among the victims were two children—15-year-old Awais and 13-year-old Esha—who lost their lives due to electrocution in Harbanspura.

In a separate incident in Thokar Niaz Beg’s Muridwal area, five members of a single family perished and two were injured when their roof caved in. Another three fatalities and several injuries were reported from Raiwind in similar roof collapse incidents.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met Office) and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) have warned of more heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours as Punjab experiences its third monsoon spell. Citizens have been urged to take extra precautions.

According to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Paniwala Talab recorded the heaviest rainfall at 171mm, closely followed by Iqbal Town at 169mm. Other heavily affected areas included Tajpura, Samanabad, and Lakshmi Chowk, all of which received over 100mm of rain.

Rescue 1122 confirmed that at least 10 people have died and 92 others were injured across Punjab in the last 24 hours due to weather-related accidents.

Tragedy also struck Bahawalnagar, where the roof of a madrasa collapsed in Manchanabad, killing two children, 8-year-old Salman and 10-year-old Saifullah, and injuring several others.

In Faisalabad’s Madinah Town, 10-year-old Ali Jan died after an electric pole fell on him, leaving another child injured.

Meanwhile, in Okara, a lightning strike near Head Sulemanki claimed the lives of 16-year-old Anam and 17-year-old Asad, with one additional injury reported.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as rescue and relief efforts remain underway.
